Week’s Worth – A Collection of Images From Early Summer

This city in the summer is a fickle beast.  My levels of motivation and inspiration have been ebbing and flowing with the passing of the days and the fluctuations of the temperature.  With what free time I’ve had this summer, I’ve taken to walking.  Crisscrossing my way through neighborhoods I had never visited before, I find it remarkable how much I can see in a day, how much things can influence me without even realizing it.  This season has left me perplexed in so many ways, and a lot of that has to do with a sort of sensory overload.  The many hours I’ve had to kill I’ve spent taking in the city and trying to make sense of everything.  Running into familiar faces and wandering in and out of random places constantly shifts my perspective.  It’s all left me simultaneously inspired and thoroughly confused, so I decided a couple weeks ago that it was high time I started taking photos.  I’ve always known that writing has been what I’m most interested in, but in a day I see so much that it’s became necessary to record these snapshots.  These are a series of photographs from the past few weeks of my life, brief moments in time of who and what I see in a day.

I love how you can see so much in the City, no matter how long you’ve lived there! Great photos!

  37. You have a nice collage of photos: buildings, clothes, people. The people are especially intriguing–people from all walks of life. I like that.

Take photos of effects and after effects. Then build it inot the photospread of your characters. Everything felt so neat and clean edged. Forget the poses, catch them off guard. Pensive. Chomping a 60 cent glazed and 12:17 pm after it closes. Sorry, but please tell me more than pretty well dressed stories.

I don’t know if you are a avaid photographer, but this all comes from an artist’s point of view: When finish I was left with a gut wrenching feeling of sweetness and triteness. If you are going after your friends personalities and not Vogue for Men street shots, I suggest you cathc them at vulnerable moment and when they are not paying attention. Go to the heart of it, even photograph some of their effects and build that into the photo montage. Show more lived in and used spaces, odd angles, over exposures to force what is remaining in the picture to a greater depth of value. Depsite that, thanks for sharing what matters to you.

  40. Wow what a great photo essay and I’m glad I’m in the north country!

  41. I like the variety of shots you took. There are definitely some colorful, thought-provoking ones in there!
